2DS INSPIRED MagicX Touch Zero 40 set to release…

The New MagicX Touch Zero 40 is heavily inspired by the original 2DS and has had my attention for a while. It appeared for some time that maybe the project got shelved but suddenly we have more than just 3D renders.

Thanks to YouTuber S1eepy showing a demo of the Touch Zero 40 on their page we now know that this is indeed a real device. As I had expected this is going to be a great way to play those dual screen DS games we have all struggled to make work on single screen emulation.

I am going to do some more digging before posting the specs as I assume some of them have changed. Let’s also be honest it’s MagicX and they haven’t released a handheld yet with an included CPU that they advertised. Lucky for them they make interesting quality handhelds so I continue to go out of my way to check them out.

Their last handheld was the MagicX XU mini M. A horizontal handheld with dual sticks (the good hall sticks Ayn uses) to compete with the Miyoo A30 and Anbernic RG28xx. For the same price as the for mentioned the XU mini M is a quality device worth checking out. With PlumOS installed I would put it up against either of those handhelds any day with its better build quality and parts. The only thing that prevented it from becoming more popular was MagicX pushing a new RK3562 SOC but releasing it with the RK3326 and denied it was a different SOC until devs started calling them out.

I think this MagicX Touch Zero 40 has a stupid enough name and is just ugly enough to be cool. The expected release is February 2025. What do you think about this new handheld? Do you think it will have the advertised SOC?
