MagicX is back at it showing off their future designs. So far they have done a fairly good job at getting their designs to production, have it they are a bit behind after the XU Mini M release earlier in the year.

As much as I like the MagicX XU Mini M and XU10 both released with controversy around their CPU’s. Not only were they advertised with stronger CPU’s than they were delivered with but MagicX reps were online telling us the wrong information even after we tore them apart. This didn’t hurt the overall look, feel and usability of the handhelds. But it did cause a riff in the community as honesty goes a long way with handheld gamers. It’s hard to build those custom firmwares when you are developing for the wrong SOCs.

They are currently a few months behind in the release of the XU Mini M Pro? The second generation XU Mini M , their naming confuses me sometimes even when I have the handheld in hand . I’m not even positive the number 41 is supposed to be in this new handhelds name but it was in the title when it was posted.

I used to have a spec sheet with all the MagicX handhelds and release dates but they never released any of them on time so I stopped updating it. I’m not sure of the specs on the Mini One 41 but it is a good looking handheld. If they launch every handheld on the list next year they are going to give Anbernic a run for their money. Anbernic is looking to launch its 12th handheld of 2024 on December 16th with the RG34xx, a very convincing GBA clone with a display to play the system at a 3X Picture Perfect resolution.

What’s known right now is dimensions. The handheld is said to be 166mm long x 66mm wide x 15.6mm thick. I’m not sure what those numbers mean because we use Freedom Units where I live but I’m getting the sense that is not very big with Mini being in the name.

There is also said to be a 4000mAh battery. That seems pretty impressive to fit within such a small handheld. Very impressive.

I’ve come to like reviewing their handhelds thus far. Put the CPU controversies aside and you have uniquely designed for comfort and functionality handhelds that upset the norms of what we normally see in the Retro Handheld space.

I’ll hunt one of these down at release to review unless MagicX wants someone to look at their handhelds early. In that case I would gladly take a look at them ahead of time. I’m still really liking the XU Mini M so that’s going to be hard to beat.
