Retroid Pocket Flip 2: Every Detail You Want…Almost!

The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 has been creating a lot of hype in the Retro Handhelds community ever since we found out there would be 2 SOC options: the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 (Found in the RP4 Pro) and the Snapdragon SD865 (found in the RP5).

If you have kept up with Retroid you will know neither is a generational boost in performance and yet they greatly out perform their predecessors. If you want all the magic captured with the Retroid Pocket 5 then you are left with no choice but to get the Snapdragon version. You will get all the benefits of Snapdragon along with Adreno Driver availability for higher end emulation. There is also a Linux build available for the SD865 already allowing PS3 and XBox emulation possibilities.

Now we are just left with the Pricing and an official release date. I think pre-orders will still go live in the first 2 weeks of March. Retroid seems pretty excited to start pushing this handheld out as soon as possible. As far as price… now that they have confirmed the same AMOLED screen as the RP5 I’m sitting around $259USD for the SD865 version. I think they would struggle to sell it for more than this seeing as it’s almost double the price of the first Retroid Pocket Flip. $259USD is also creeping up on Odin 2 and “Just get a Steam Deck Bro” territory.

Which color is your favorite? I love the GameCube color but it’s almost become the “basic gamer” colorway this last year. That Ice Blue is giving me chills too! 🥶
