We knew there was a tsunami of handhelds coming to market rocking the Allwinner A527 SOC when we posted about it a few months ago. It seems that the brake waters are upon us.
The new Helegaly Actionπ 2025 is an interesting handheld which is now available for order on their website. This handheld may look similar to numerous handhelds that have been released this year, but the Actionπ holds a secret.
We now have an affordable and in most cases more powerful handheld to be stuck in this body. This time sporting 3 new color variants. There was a fourth GameCube colorway that I would have pushed people over to get… but at release it is nowhere to be found. That’s ok though the colors they have are sharp: White (SNES), Black (Sega’ish), and a Rose Pink with Hot Pink buttons. What color should I order for testing?

The version of Linux the Actionπ is running is Batocera. We know this SOC can run Android especially equipped with 2GB of RAM so Linux might be disappointing for some. Also the Actionπ is running a version of Linux that doesn’t support PortMaster.
Not having PortMaster is a bummer for me as someone who plays these games on it daily. We might get a CFW that includes these features, but I never like to recommend based on what might be some day.
The question has come up in the community as to who is actually making this handheld. The Actionπ seems to be mostly a hit amongst early reviewers and that doesn’t normally happen on a companies first attempt in this market. I joke that it was designed by Powkiddy because honestly it looks like one of there handhelds.
Either way impressive from what we’ve seen so far. There have even been some revisions since the initial pre-production units sent to some reviewers.
