I love it when a company lets us know that they are going to one day let us know something.
In this case Acclaim announced that they will be making an announcement on 9-10-2025 for…. Not really sure I guess we’ll have to watch the announcement. I’m assuming it isn’t for the stack of TVs that can be seen in the video on YouTube.
I also don’t think that Acclaim is getting into the TV repair business and the video doesn’t focus on any specific titles. With all sorts of publishers and studios dipping their toes into the Retro Gaming scene I wouldn’t be surprised to see something going on here.
Acclaim has a ton of classics like Turk, NBA Jam, Rage Wars, Re-Volt and hundreds of more IPs. If you were a gamer in the 90’s you probably owned/played dozens of their games.
So what is this announcement of an announcement all about? With the amount of titles they showed in just 40 seconds I think they are coming out with some sort of collaboration including all these great games of theirs.
This could be something like a game box, a handheld, a cartridge most likely for switch or lineup of systems and carts similar to Evercade using their own IP. This would give them the abuility to re-release while maintaining control.
I’m probably completely wrong is my guesses but I think they mostly make good business sense. Acclaim probably wouldn’t even have to remake/remaster the games if they can catch the correct retro vibes in how they playback.
