NEW Powkiddy V10 is positioned to be a Pocket Jester!!

Powkiddy recently “leaked” images of its new V10 handheld emulator. It seems like these handheld manufacturers have been using the advantage of leaks though this handheld wasn’t followed up with the usual barrage of posts promoting it. It just kinda released without so much as an email in my inbox here.

This is a NEW 3.5” 480×320 IPS handheld with a Rockchip RK3326 quad-core Cortex A35 with 1GB DDR3L RAM running at 1.5GHz. You might have caught that correctly but if not the display resolution is 2x GBA out of the box.

I’ve talked about it before and I’ll say it again I love GBA emulation. Sure the Powkiddy V10 looks more like an Anbernic 280V than a GBA but either way I’m here for it. Tis the season of GBA emulation after the recent releases of the Anbernic RG35xxSP (yes another of those handhelds with too many “X”’s rocking an H700).

The V10 will be far less powerful than the 35xxSP but when it comes to GBA emulation the RK3326 holds plenty of power. If the dozens of handhelds I’ve previously reviewed are any indication the V10 should have no issues emulating PS1 as well. Though PS1 won’t be nearly as fun without joysticks.

There is one big miss on what seems to be almost the perfect device for my pocket and that is the lack of WiFi. This is what is keeping the V10 out of Pocket King eligibility (site unseen of course). I have a hard time convincing myself to play something without access to RetroAchivments. I did however find a happy medium with my GKD Pixel at which I use it when I don’t have access to WiFi without hot spotting my phone so I use it in cases it really doesn’t matter. You likely won’t catch me playing with the V10 around the house.

This is a very mobile looking device and I’m not going the lie I think the color choices are a lot of what has pulled me in. I will root for the success of any handheld I don’t immediately feel like I need to order buttons for at the same time I order the handheld.

If you want to learn more about the Powkiddy V10 or just wander through the image gallery click here. If you want to order one for yourself with the addition of Powkiddy’s 618 sale going on at the time of publishing you can pick it up through the link for $35USD at the time of publishing. It appears to come with a 64gb game card right now which I recommend replacing immediately but this could be a good start to a rom collection if you are new to the hobby.
