Gamepass on Linux Retro Handhelds?

We have had access to Gamepass on Linux through the Steam Deck for over a year now. But why aren’t we seeing it in CFW builds for retro handhelds?

This is something I’m truly trying to find an answer to and am hoping there is a developer out there that has a lightbulb go off by simply enquiring. There is Linux emulation for XBox ROMs and there is Gamepass streaming for Linux, but for some reason as far as I know this hasn’t been implemented in any useful way into CFW builds for Retro Handheld Devices. This might be a Proton thing I’m unsure. Sure you can run it on devices with Android even with SOC’s like the RK3566 with relatively successful gameplay, but not on Linux devices with the same SOC.

I would imagine that streaming Gamepass on Linux handhelds would be lighter on its feet and have better results? I don’t even play a developer on the internet so this could easily be far more difficult than I am envisioning. I am imagining a program like XBXbox on Android that allows remote sign in to a console as well as Gamepass cloud play by putting in your login.

We are starting to see more powerful and capable Linux handhelds in 2024-2025. Is this as simple as waiting for the processing power to catch up or the screen resolution to raise? The Logitech G Cloud is one of my favorite streaming handhelds and is positioned by Microsoft for XBox cloud gaming. The G Cloud has a pretty weak processor and very little onboard storage. It is however running Android which is the only reason it is positioned as the go to for Gamepass today.

I have searched and been unable to find any attempts or really anyone asking the questions about this. The only way this seams to be possible is by running Gamepass on your PC and using an app like Moonlight to mirror that to your handheld. It seems to me that would be more taxing on your handheld than just running the program natively.

Is this even possible or is it a pipe dream?
