Miyoo Flip resurfaces Officially?

It seems after more than a year from the original street date Miyoo is still pushing teasers of their long awaited Flip. I’m not going to go through all the posts I’ve put up of the Flip in the wild but they should be linked to this post.

If memory serves me correctly the original launch date for the Miyoo Flip was October 15th 2023. So it’s been a minute or two behind schedule. Now Miyoo is displaying the Flip on their own website. You can check it out here if you want to see for yourself. In fact all the images I’m posting in this article are from the website.

There are a few new things we are learning. This will be the first Miyoo Handheld that will have dual micro SD cards. This should make trying new firmware out a breeze. There also appears to be 2 C holes, one next to a 3.5mm hole on the front and another next to an HDMI outlet on the back. I’m not sure we should expect OnionOS on the Flip but something like the SpruceOS 3.0 build found for the Miyoo A30 would definitely be welcome.

The quad-core Cortex A55 CPU could give away this handheld having the Rockchip RK3566 though I have never seen that SOC with a second Type-C. We haven’t seen a true RK3562 which is supposed to be more efficient so that’s also possible. I tend to think it’s nothing Rockchip seeing as Miyoo has never used their CPU’s in the past. I’m struggling to find a Cortex A55 chipset that lines up with the I/O on the Flip that also would allow emulation on 20+ emulators. Thoughts?

Miyoo seems to also be showing off their “sturdy hinges”. I’m not sure if this is a poke at Anbernic who has seen some hinge issues in the 35xxSP, Retroid for the issues they had with the Pocket Flip or as I’ve suspected since the beginning the hinge concern was holding the Flip from release and they finally figured it out. But if you didn’t notice like I apparently didn’t there is an HDMI hole right there by a second C hole. This could give away the SOC if we can get more info. Also the first time Miyoo has added video out. Maybe this will fit in my RG35xxSP dock… wouldn’t that be neat.

The Flip looks to have the joysticks taken straight out of the TrimUI Smart Pro. These are by far not my favorite thumbsticks but they appear to be better inset. If they are using the TSP sticks they are at least serviceable and they likely would have more motion being inset.

I am bit curious about the face buttons they are showing. The image appears to have the A button stuck. Aside from the buttons looking like sweat-tarts it will be interesting to test the travel and rebound.

It is rumored that the Miyoo flip might launch with Portmaster after an image had surfaced with Balatro on the screen, maybe Miyoo already locked down some custom firmware for launch.

As I learn more about the Miyoo Flip I’ll post it. What are your wants with the Miyoo Flip?
