New Anbernic RG476H | 2025 Handheld Vibes

Anbernic teased us with a new handheld this morning, the RG476H.

This is the first drip so we don’t have a ton of info yet, but there are a few things we can take from the video.

[There isn’t anything on the site as of posting but you will soon be able to find info on the Anbernic Blog.]

Body

The new RG476H should be equipped with a 4.7” display and a Gen 6 processor. The display is a bit hard to pickup with the all glass front end, but the name would tell us it’s the display size. Likely the same custom display used in the RG477M and RG Slide.

Three colors have been announced; GameCube, Retro and Black. I think this handheld would look really good with an all White model as well. On the black the screen nearly seamlessly blends into the body in the images that we have seen.

I think it’s safe to assume that the stacked shoulder buttons will be HallEffect along with the joysticks. The question is which Anbernic joysticks are we going to see this time?

Unlike the RG477M that is currently in release, the RG476H will be a plastic shell. I’m mentioning this here because there are a handful, of people out there that prefer the weight and temps of a plastic shell over metal.

There is however a lack of ergonomics with the RG476H. The only bumps on the back of the handheld are for the trigger buttons. This is interesting because Anbernic seems to have made a thin and pocketable device that should be liter and more pocketable than the RG477M, then added stacked instead of inline triggers for a less powerful device.

They did get the DPad on top this time, with the SOC it makes the most sense.

Power

The RG476H should be using the Unisoc T820 processor. Had they started the year with it and kept the cost down it feels like it could have replaced the H700.

The T820 is a solid performer. I keep finding more ways to squeeze power out of it with my RG Slide (I’ll work on putting together a guide when I have more time).

This should come equipped with a Mali-G57 GPU which will hopefully get driver support unlocked soon thanks to the work GameHub is doing with Mali. No promises though.

Expect most PS2 and GameCubes to play. These look great on this screen so no complaints from me.

Thoughts

This year seems a little like Anbernic either can’t make up their mind or has lost its identity a little bit. This is a beautiful looking handheld, but so were the Retroid and Ayaneo devices Anbernic obviously took their design cues from. Outside of current handhelds there is a lot of Retroid Pocket 2S vibes here as well.

I know some people like the full glass front panel and they are nice if you keep a cloth with you the clean off fingerprints. I also much prefer stacked shoulders but I’m not convinced they make sense in an otherwise mid performing Android Handheld.

I’m sure the buttons and DPad will have that great Anbernic feel to them and are correctly placed for the T820 SOC. Hopefully the joysticks aren’t overstimulated and cardinal snapping all over the place.

You probably won’t find yourself emulating Switch games or using much of Windlater (unless Mali driver support opens up), but this is on pace to be one solid machine. The price will make or break thebRG476H.

I would expect Anbernic to release the RG476H between $150USD-$180USD. The RG556 is currently on sale for $160, while the RG Slide is on sale for $165USD and normally sells for $189USD. There isn’t an OLED like the RG556 or slide feature but there is this custom 4:3 4.7” display that can’t come cheap (this is the 3rd handheld they are using it in though).

Most of this was educated speculation. Once I have some more concrete info I’ll share it with you and then we can see how absolutely wrong I am in this post.

If you are interested in the Anbernic RG476H or looking for more info I’ll post as soon as I have it here. You can also check Anbernic’s Blog

Are you looking forward to the Anbernic RG476H?
