If you have been checking out the Pocket S or Pocket S2 from Ayaneo and thought to yourself that they are just too big or you don’t want a 16:9 display, then the Pocket S Mini might be for you.

Ayaneo always announced devices at the wrong times (my opinion). As they announced the pricing of their 4.2” 4:3 Pocket Air Mini, they turned around and announced the Pocket S Mini.
Yet another 4:3 display on the Pocket S Mini it is probably safe to assume it will have the same display found in the upcoming Pocket Air Mini. It is a common practice in the Retro Handheld scene to acquire a display and then put it in the next 3-4 devices to drive costs down.

The only other info we have on the Pocket Air Mini is the SOC as of now. Somehow Ayaneo finds a way during every new release to announce the next one before the current release goes up for order. It doesn’t seem like the greatest practice but I guess it must be working.
The Ayaneo Pocket S Mini is a great looking handheld. It looks to attempting to grab some sales from Anbernic’s RG476H that went on sale today. Both are vary similar looking handhelds.

Hopefully Ayaneo goes with a more powerful SOC than the G90T found in the Pocket Air Mini with up to 3GB RAM. With the Pocket S being a fairly premium handheld I would think they would reuse the Helio G99 SOC from the Pocket Micro at minimum.
Prior to posting there was an update and we now know the Ayaneo Pocket S Mini will be coming with the Snapdragon G3Gen2. This is a far better than the G99 SOC that I was hoping they would at minimum include. The SDG3Gen2 has proven to be a reliable chipset in other handhelds which is great news for those interested in picking the Pocket S Mini up.
Once more info is available we’ll keep you posted.
