I used to get excited when I got Discord alerts from handheld manufacturers, but 2026 with rising RAM and Storage prices it doesn’t feel the same.
Lately instead of handheld manufacturers sending out messages about new device releases they have instead been about price increases. In the latest update from Ayn not only are prices going up on the popular Ayn Thor, but they are also lowering the memory speeds of those handhelds.

One positive note is the addition of a new sku for a 16GB 512GB model. Unfortunately it’s still more than the 16GB 1TB was at launch.
Going forward Ayn will be using UFS3.1 storage instead of the faster UFS4.0 the handhelds launched with. This likley won’t be an issue for Retro Gamers, but those looking to emulate Switch or PC games will probably feel the difference.
We’ll be over here waiting for our next alert to keep you posted.
If you want to pickup the Ayn Thor or just see all the new pricing before the go up again hit that button below.
