If you haven’t found your perfect 1:1 Retro Handheld yet the team at GameMT is gearing up to release the E3 Vigor to give you another option.
Powkiddy tweeted about a new GameMT handheld with a 1:1 display similar to the RGB30 recently. I’m not aware of any relationship between Powkiddy and GameMT but they seem to have announced the E3 Vigor, so there’s that.
Part of what makes this so odd is as a community we haven’t heard anything from Powkiddy since June 15th. It’s possible they will be selling the GameMT E3 Vigor as they are known to be a distribution point for multiple manufacturers (TrimUI is a good example).
What we know
The only info posted about the E3 Vigor so far is it having a 1:1 display. It’s probably safe to assume this display is 4”’s making it similar to the Powkiddy RGB30.
GameMT is something of an innovator in the Retro Handheld space so it’s likely there is something we aren’t seeing here. They do like using Android so there is a good chance the E3 Vigor will run on Android.
They tend to use a wide variety of SOCs often changing them to upgrade devices during their life cycle. I think it’s safe to assume if they are running Android we won’t be seeing an RK3326 SOC which is welcome news in the budget-friendly gaming space.
Right now GameMT is showing 3 colors: Pink, Cream w/ lavender buttons and black with red buttons.
Watch for
Watch for the GameMT E3 Vigor to release relatively soon with at minimum the RK3566 SOC found in the Powkiddy RGB30. GameMT typically does a good job driving their own prices down so it will likely be powerful enough and affordable.
Timing might peg the E3 Vigor directly against the Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini. The Pocket Air Mini went up for pre-order on IndieGoGo last week which has a similar form factor but a custom 4.2” 4:3 display.
I would be surprised if something about this handheld doesn’t leave us surprised. Unless GameMT is changing their market target it’s kinda what they are known for.
