GameMT is back at it again with an upgrade to their sexy E6 line of handheld gaming devices. Mostly known for creating designs that stand out in the industry, the E6 caught attention for looking like a mini Steam Deck running Android.

GameMT seems to be improving the E6 handhelds ever so slightly in each new rendition. This latest upgrade is probably the smallest upgrade but they are experimenting with a new SOC. The Allwinner A527 is a rarely used chipset in the Handheld Gaming space and is only slightly more powerful on paper than the widely used RK3566 that they had installed in the E6 Plus.

With the power update it should put more PS1, Dreamcast and N64 within reach of working on the E6 Max with fewer studders. The handheld is also using the Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. This is a GPU I haven’t come across before. We have seen good things come from Mali GPUs even with their lack of additional support drivers.

It is always fun to see a company like GameMT release devices into the space as they aren’t afraid to take chances. There has been custom firmware developed and released by the community allowing us to get the most out of the previous GameMT handhelds so it is safe to assume with this new SOC someone might take a crack at it, though I would never recommend buying something for what it might do.

I have picked up the previous E6 devices for review and will probably take a crack at this one. I am also going put GammaOS on the E6 Plus to do a review of the operating system and the changes it makes the the handheld.
Once I get a chance to look at the GameMT E6 Max I will post a review.
