New Retro Handhelds with KTR1 Display Launching in 2025

The KTR1 had a lot of support and big following partly due to its display. It seemed to be all (ok not all) anyone talked about when it released and what everyone wanted in their next handheld.

KTR1

Now in 2025 we are going to see 3 new Retro Handhelds possibly launching with the KTR1 screen. These handhelds are across the spectrum likely in price, quality and performance. Coming from manufactures Powkiddy, GKD and Ayaneo. Seems like an interesting matchup of brands to use the same display. The new handhelds that will be sporting this display are the RGB50, Little and Pocket Ace.

GKD Little

The sought after display is a 4.5” 1620×1080 3:2 IPS. This resolution and aspect ratio will allow for great increased resolution for retro gaming. The 3:2 aspect ratio isn’t one that I normally shoot for but it does offer a good foundation when trying to get the most out of the display using less bezel coverage.

Ayaneo Pocket Ace

The screen also sits at 4.2”’s corner to corner. This is going to make for great GBA coverage. 16:9 system should link pretty good on here as well. Thought they will be smaller with letter boxing that shouldn’t effect the overall image.

As we learn more about these new handhelds I will link them here.

Are you interested in the 4.5” display off the KTR1? Do you think this is the right display for these handhelds?

As always if I learn more I will keep you posted.
