I am a sucker for the White and Orange accented anything. But especially when it comes to handhelds.
New Handheld brand Mangmi is kicking off with a new sexy White handheld rocking Orange accents called the Air X that could suck and I would still want it. Luckily it doesn’t appear to suck…as long as the price is right (*edit: Pricing listed below).
The Mangmi Air X launches July 9th 10am CST.
I’m going to be doing a lot of translating here so I apologize for any mistakes. If you want to double check my work you can find the Mangmi Air X here and let me know how I did.

Features
This new handheld is rocking a 5.5” 1920×1080 display at 450nits. Also equipped is the Snapdragon 662 SOC and Adreno 610GPU. Driving it will be 4GB LPDDR4x RAM on 64GB internal eMMC.
They do list pricing based on storage sizes typical to other handheld manufacturers. What isn’t typical is Mangmi seems to be listing the storage sizes as TF Card capacity upgrades. They are listing prices as 64GB, 128GB and 256GB microSD Cards included. It doesn’t appear there are any updates to the eMMC which should be fine if that only holds your emulators and Android games.
This might be ok as I’ve been using the Logitech G Cloud for 3yrs now and anything after the 64GB eMMC puts you down a path of picking up microSD Cards which have really dropped in price. The advantage is the ability to upgrade your storage at any time… I guess (cause you can do this on anything with an SD Card hole).
My hope is they allow NTFS as the G Cloud only allows Fat32 formatted SD Cards restricting ROM files sizes to 4GB. I’ve found their isn’t a ton of ROM files larger than 4GB that run on the Snapdragon 720G incldued on the G Cloud anyways. However with “secret console” emulation getting better this is becoming a bigger issue due to Adreno Drivers designed by the community pushing emulation to new levels on handhelds with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

Benefits
I’m past that age to call RGB lighting around the joysticks a benefit, but the Air X has plenty of good stuffed in it worth talking about. One great thing aside from the RGB with the joysticks is them being HallEffect. This will allow longevity of the handhelds sticks and extends the longevity of the device. We shouldn’t in theory see stick drift from this handheld.
Another spot that is getting the HallEffect treatment is the triggers. No the triggers don’t also have RGB, but the HallEffect technology should help with precision and the ability to customize the input (if it’s built into the firmware). HallEffect triggers are non-contact and due to their magnetic field can sense how you squeeze them.
We will see Active Cooling in the Air X which should help the handheld stay cool. The Snapdragon 662 shouldn’t get overly hot in normal operation but let’s be honest we are going to be pushing this SOC to see what exactly we can get outta it.
If you are into your Android games the Air X will have Google Play support thanks to Android 14. This will also give you access to your favorite Cloud Gaming and Streaming Apps like Gamepass, Moonlight Artemis, PSP Play and GForce now just to name a few.
With the 5.5” 1920×1080 16:9 IPS display the Air X is setup to be an incredible Streaming Handheld. There is processing power here but it’s not necessary for Streaming and with the Joystick and Screen combo it’s really going to come down to comfort.

Who
If you are into Retro Gaming this should be an excellent handheld for you. After initial setup Android offers a plethora of different emulators not offered by the Air X’s Linux counter parts. Streaming on here should be great as well.
The display though looking great might not be the brightest for playing outside. Without the handheld in hand 450nits isn’t eye watering bright. Likely you will find yourself playing in the shade if you are touching grass… this is fine for me, I don’t like the sun too much anyways.
I don’t wanna speak for the talented developers in this community but my understanding is that they might be able to do some magic with the Air X. We have recently seen dual-boot Android/Linux with the Retroid Pocket 5 running the Snapdragon 865. If the Air X SOC has been used previously for a Linux device they might be able to implement these additions they have been working on for other handhelds. It would be a lot of fun to get PortMaster on this handhelds.

Emulation
We should see some solid emulation on the Mangmi Air X and for the price it’s going to be hard to beat. What I would expect to see is some PS2, PSP, GameCube and Dreamcast emulation. You will obviously be able to play from Atari to that point. I don’t think PS2 is going to include games like Black released at the end of the Playstation 2’s life cycle, but you should be able to find plenty of your favorite titles available.
My understanding of the SD 662 should make it a solid PSP performer. The Air X has the potential to be my dedicated PSP device with bonus games on more performance intensive systems.
Price
While I was in the middle of writing this the pricing was release. I’m more than impressed with the numbers here. The Mangmi Air X has every potential to be the Budget Android Emulation King, sorry working on my video titles there. Even the retail pricing is better than a lot of Linux Retro Handheld Emulators.
Incase you missed it earlier the Mangmi Air X releases April 9th at 10am CST. That is right around the corner.

If you jump on this right away, you will be able to pickup the Mangmi Air X for as little as $69USD. That is crazy. To be fair there will probably be around $20 of shipping to add to this as well and for US customers lets hope they have worked with shipper to get these Tariff free. But if you want more memory or pickup the Air X retail at its largest configuration it maxes out in price at $105. I’m unsure how you can go wrong for this pricing.
What do you think about the Mangmi Air X? Do you think it will be a game changer?
This is all the info I have for now. Once I get more info including links for the Global Market I’ll post an update.
