A new vertical Miyoo on the horizon?! (Not the flip)
Some images showed up online of what appears to be a new Miyoo handheld. These images are a patent render.
After trying to figure out if this is truly a Miyoo handheld I noticed a post from YouTuber Retro Gaming with Deadfred (https://youtube.com/@deadfred69) that seems to be asking the same question. It would make sense to include a successor to the Miyoo Mini Plus to their lineup.
We are still waiting for the Miyoo Flip which is how this may have slipped under the radar. If the listed specs (which are minimal) are correct this will have a pretty solid screen at to which is being used currently in the Powkiddy RGB20 Pro. If that screen escapes you it’s a 3.2” 1024×728 laminated LCD panel.
This would put it in direct competition with the TrimUI Brick releasing at the end of the month. Miyoo and TrimUI have a storied relationship so it could be fun to see them finally compete for market share. When the TrimUI Brick specs were dropped it became immediately evident that other than sharing price and most capabilities, the Brick fits right between the Miyoo Mini and Miyoo Mini Plus as far as size goes. This could eliminate the advantage TrimUI seems to be going for in the truly pocketable handheld market. In fact the Brick also uses the same 3.2” 1024×728 IPS display.
The apparently New Miyoo handheld also has a twin stick design similar to that found in the Anbernic RG353V and R36S a famously Budget Retro handheld. The Miyoo also appears to have dual memory card slots, easily removable battery (like the current Miyoo handhelds), dual Type-C holes (possibly one for display or OTG), 3.5mm headphone hole and rear shoulder buttons. The hardware and I/O suspiciously mirror the RG353V.
It’s fun to guess so I’m going to take a stab at the SOC. With the Miyoo Flip rumored to be rocking the RK3566 SOC and the RG353V also using the RK3566 SOC I’m going to bet on that being what we will find in this new unannounced handheld. Not only does that I/O nearly match the RG353V but Miyoo would see a discount on the SOC based on the more chips they pickup.
If I find out anything else about this new Miyoo I’ll post it immediately.
With how long it has taken Miyoo to release the Flip do you think this handheld will ever be released? Do you think it will do well against the RGB20 Pro and/or TrimUI Brick?
