RedOnionOS based on Miyoo MainUI and Onion+

There is a new Beta bringing life back into OnionOS.

As the most beloved OS on the Miyoo Mini, Miyoo Mini + and Miyoo Mini Flip OnionOS is the reason many have gotten into retro handhelds. Most forget or don’t know how lackluster the Miyoo line of devices was prior to the release of OnionOS.

GitHub user robcodedev is not only working on RedOnion [formally Unnameable] but also got Miyoo MainUI published to a repo. With MainUI out there now it should allow devs to make Onion for other none Miyoo devices.

RedOnion its self is a combination of MainUI and Onion+. The project is already fixing some of the outstanding Onion and Onion+ outstanding bugs.

The biggest changes we see being talked about so far are related to the speed at which RedOnion operates. For example ok startup instead of waiting for all systems to start to complete boot they are now started up in the background.

With Onion being dormant so long it’s nice to see it being maintained. robcodedev is using AI to assist with RedOnion which no matter which side you are on in the use of AI should help with faster development and bug fixes.
