Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and Vertical Confirmed

For the last couple weeks Retroid has been probing creators and reviewers alike about the desire for a possible Flip 2. There was a last minute event scheduled for tonight and we got more than we asked for.

Not only did Retroid unveil a Flip 2 but they also introduced the even longer awaited Retroid Vertical. I’ll be honest I didn’t see that Vertical coming. I think due to Retroid probing most of us we were pretty confident that Retroid was revealing the Pocket Flip 2. I would have to assume that they had been designing the Flip 2 for a while now so it seems odd that they were asking us what we would want in the handheld. Sometimes it’s just nice to confirm your intuition.

Retroid did however seem to read minds as a lot of the features rated first on the RetroHandhelds and Retro Game Corps survey seem to be here. Inset assumably HallEffect joysticks, dual front firing speakers, the hinge style etc.. I’m not ready to guess the SOC but I think it’s safe to say it’s a Snapdragon likely the same 865 used in the RP5 and Pocket Mini with an Adreno 650 GPU. Whoops guess I’m guessing the CPU. It looks like they may be using the same RP5 Joysricks too. I hope they are transferring over that OLED screen as well.

Instead of speculating I’m going to leave it right here for now. More details will be announced or leaked in the coming days/months. They are shooting for a Spring release so we should see the Indiegogo pre-order page go live soon.
