There is always a lot of rumors around new handhelds but these seem pretty legit.
Picked up by Windows Central the FCC appears to have leaked the images for Project Kennan (the XBox handheld) and new Asus ROG Ally 2. (Info via VideoCardz).

The black handheld is sporting a though seemingly worn XBox button and the white with all the similar markings of the current ROG Ally. If the mountain of dust of these handhelds doesn’t give it away, these are obviously engineering samples. These pictures are killing my OCD I just want to clean these screens!
When submitted by Asus they were nice enough to include measurements though I’m sure that is required when submitting such information.
What does this mean?
A lot of us have thought the XBox handheld can’t be too far off but these images seem to show the handhelds being closer to launch than expected. Asus doesn’t work at the speeds of handheld manufacturers such as Anbernic, if they did we would see a release from this point inside 2 weeks.

There is an event called Build 2025 in a couple weeks where it would be a good place for Asus to reveal the Ally 2. As far as the XBox handheld Microsoft likes holding these things close to chest but maybe they will reveal around the same time to take some heat off the recent home console price hikes. There is an XBox Games Showcase on June 8th. Seems like a weird place to reveal their handheld but with these images out there now they may want to get into the hype train.
I think it’s safe to say we will see both these handhelds before the end of the year. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say we might see them by the end if the summer. The biggest hurdles from this point will be wrestling with Windows 11 and tariffs. I’m not sure which will cause more hardship?

Pricing
Let’s hope that something gets resolved with these US Tariffs soon or Project Keenan could become a casualty along side the current XBox lineup. Microsoft almost exclusively manufactures their consoles in China so things could get even more interesting.
Asus however does 80% of their manufacturing in China with 20% being spread from Brazil to Europe and Indonesia. They might have a chance to get these off the ground in a not so much tariffed country.
Once I get more info I’ll pass it along to you.
When do you think we should expect these handhelds?
