What to Expect from Lenovo’s C700 Streaming Handheld

What to Expect from Lenovo’s C700 Streaming Handheld

Just when the rumors of Lenovo leaving the handheld gaming space are at their prime, a new Lenovo handheld appears.

We don’t know a ton about Lenovo’s C700 handheld or even if it will be released, but it does seem like the odds are in our favor. What we do know is Lenovo is still showing interest in the handheld gaming space.

Gaming Tablet

I personally have, along with many others fallen in love with the Y700 series of gaming tablets from Lenovo. Prior to the release of the Ayn Odin 3 and Ayaneo Pocket Fit Elite I picked up a Y700 2025  [Tab Gen 4] for testing performance on the Snapdragon 8 Elite SOC.

Now Lenovo has released a Y700 2026 [Tab Gen 5] with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 SOC. All the Y700s in combination with GameSir’s made for device G7 and G9 controllers, along with the Lenovo arcade controller show they are bought into the Android gaming space.

Based on their conventional naming the new C700 is most likely an Android handheld or it would be a ‘Legion Go’ device [if windows]. It could also be Linux but the ‘700’ in the name points us to a Likely Android device.

So maybe Lenovo is getting out of the PC handheld space based on pricing and staying in the Android space? But then there is this new Legion Go Fold they have been showing off so who knows.

Streaming

There are some questions around the C700 and whether it will be a standalone handheld or possibly a streaming device. Though I expect Lenovo along with most PC handheld makers to release streaming handhelds in the next couple years, I’m not convinced that’s what we have here. Ok so I translated the post from Lenovo and it’s a Streaming Handheld that they will releases more info on in August:

“Lenovo Savior Cloud Game Handheld C700

See you in August

The market is gearing up to go in a streaming and subscription model with the rising RAM and memory costs due to the AI boom. Acer showed off the Nitro Blaze Link, abxylute is on their second generation One Pro, Logitech has the GCloud [which needs an update], the NVIDIA Shield is still available, the Razor Edge is a good streaming option and many have turned to the base Ayn Odin 2 Portal along with the Mangmi Pocket Max for streaming.

In a time when people can’t afford a computer for gaming, streaming becomes a more viable option. This is the thought around the Lenovo C700 joining the ranks with the previous mentions.

I’m a big fan of Lenovo handhelds and currently have 3 of their Legion Go line of PC handhelds. I’ve also collected the for mentioned controllers to convert the Y700 into a gaming handheld.

Partnership

The Lenovo C700 is a partnered project with Tencent START. This could make all the difference with performance, pricing, availability and service offered.

Tencent owns numerous services that are built for streaming and could take advantage of the C700. I’m unsure if Tencent worked with Acer on the Nitro Blaze Link but they did work with Logitech and abxylute on their offerings.

The Tencent partnered devices have been priced at a premium in the past with the Logitech GCloud releasing for $449.99 in 2022 and still selling for $220-$349 depending on promotions today. Because it’s a streaming device the GCloud is very underpowered but is pretty good for streaming [I love the GCloud, I’ve got 3 of them].

You can definitely get better devices like the Ayn Odin 3 Portal for $250 which will also allow for Native Steam gameplay with apps like GameNative. The Ayn Portal has a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 which isn’t only good for streaming but you can also emulate PS2, GameCube and Nintendo Switch as well.

Expectations

It’s really hard to set expectations around the performance of a device that isn’t nailed down yet. Lenovo is set to make an announcement in regards to the C700 in August.

We can take a look at the Nitro Blaze Link to get an idea of what a streaming handheld specs might look like in 2026. Keep in mind we don’t know what markets the C700 will be sold in yet.

If the C700 were to match specs we would be looking at a 7” 120Hz display, 1GB LPDDR4 and 8GB of eMMC. We don’t know the Blaze Link CPU yet, but you can easily stream games on a mid-low powered MediaTek which will be disappointing for many if that’s what it ends up being.

I would like to think the “700” branding would at leave give us the Y700 8.8” display that is also used in the Legion Go 1. If you have inspected the images as much as I have you’ll notice it appears to have active cooling which is usually an indication of a more powerful CPU.

Lenovo does already have a working relationship with Qualcomm so fingers crossed for a decent Snapdragon CPU so we can emulate off a memory card.

We have lots of guesses and assumptions about the Lenovo C700 and will update you in August unless we get a leak sooner.

Are you interested in the Lenovo C700? How much would you be willing to pay for a stream focused handheld?
