There have been a handful of dual-screen handhelds dropping the last couple weeks while Ayn quietly sneaks in the Odin 3 Portal announcement.
I had already posted my thoughts on Ayn announcing a new Portal handheld, but it’s a month earlier than I thought it would be.
We don’t have any details on the device yet but I think there are a couple safe assumptions. As long as it follows the design process of the Odin 2 Portal, Ayn will have a powerful device on their hands.
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume we will see an all-glass front end overlaying a big beautiful 7” AMOLED display [Ayn could honestly keep the same screen].
I think it’s also safe to say it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite. The SD8 Elite is what’s in the Ayn Odin 3 so it should cross over here unless they decide to go with the SD8 Elite Gen 5 but I don’t think they need to do that.
This will be a great handheld for anyone who wants to play Steam games through GameNative, GameHub, DroidDeck, etc. Also for those who want to do high end emulation like PS3, you should see some benefits here too.
If you are looking for a thinner and lighter Steam device and don’t care about size, this device might be for you. The Ayn Odin 2 Portal is also a great streaming handheld and I can only assume the Odin 3 Portal will be great for streaming as well.
