The Anbernic RG477M is officially official and coming to succeed the RG405M.
We had a leak that there was a New Anbernic coming out a couple of weeks ago [checkout our post here] and today it was made offical. Anbernic posted a teaser over on their YouTube channel showing the New RG477M spinning around.

So what does this all mean? Mostly that there is a new handheld coming out from Anbernic. That said we know it is coming in 2 different colors; a bronze and a silver. The bronze version looks like something you might be able to get away with in a boardroom. Silver has the fun SNES’ish glossy button combo.

When
We can assume that pre-orders will start in the next 2 weeks. Anbernic is on schedule right now: Leak – Teaser – Gameplay/Operation Video – Another Gameplay Video that includes Specs at End – Orders Live at 5am CST.
Display
The name RG477 tells us that this new handheld will have a 4.7” display. This can lead us to assume they will be using the same beautiful custom built 4.7” LTPS In-Cell display that recently released in the RG Slide.

Power
We can also assume that the RG477M will be equipped with the T820 or the Dimensity 8300 processor.
The T820 being the processor used in the brand New at the time of posting RG Slide from Anbernic. Also found in the RG406H/V, RG Cube and RG556 that released in 2024 also from Anbernic.
The Dimensity 8300 is a more powerful SOC that can be found in the recently released Anbernic RG557, an upgrade to last years RG556. This chipset is more powerful than the T820 but also costs considerably more.
To me it makes the most sense for Anbernic to use the Dimensity 8300. The RG477M is a successor to the RG405M so it needs to be a flagship handheld. The T820 would make it only slightly more powerful on an SOC they used last year. Anbernic skipped the RG406M that had been promised in 2024 which would have had the T820.
At this point to be more than a spiritual successor it has to be at least the 8300 or curve ball, a new Snapdragon Generational Mobile SOC like the Snapdragon G2 Gen2. I wouldn’t expect the Snapdragon as Anbernic not using SD processors it beginning to feel intentional at this point. But it would be neat if they proved me wrong.
*Update Edit: Because the model RG477M tells us there is a 7th generation SOC in this handheld, it should be equipped with either the 8300 or some unknown SOC.

Pricing
I know everyone wants pricing but we are going to need a few more details at this point. Metal handhelds aren’t cheap to begin with and if you account for inflation from the RG405M you are already over $200. Anything from there is going to come from the SOC and if they want to stay competitive with Retroid.
The first teaser we received today seems as if they might be marketing the RG477M as more of a luxury Retro Handheld. Maybe it’s just the colors but it feels like they are going for elegant. I’m all about elegant as long as I’m not worried about bringing it out of the house.
Once I have a few more details I’ll start speculating on pricing. I think it’s safe to assume with what we know today that the Anbernic RG477M will be over $200.
I don’t think I missed anything but I’m sure updates will start flying soon. We definitely will see some more videos to showcase gameplay and we need to know the rest of the specs.
Once we have more info I’ll share it with you here on RetroSpecd. Anbernic will likely post on their blog about the RG477M which you can find here: https://RS-Link.ch/AnbernicBlog.
What do you want to see in the RG477M? Are you happy with the metal color choices?
